Choosing a camping tent If you are in the market for a camping tent, there are some things that you need to know. A camping tent can make your camping experience good or bad. Below are some tips on buying a camping tent to make your camping experience the best it can be. The first thing you need to do is choose the appropriate rated camping tent. A camping tent designed for the summer trip at your local lake won’t cut it for your extreme camper who has set up camp in the snow. That means, some camping tents are designed for warmer conditions and some are designed for colder temperatures. The camping tents designed for warmer conditions are typically called 3 season tents. The camping tents designed for colder, extreme conditions are typically called 4 season tents. Choosing the right camping tent is one of the most important things you can do when purchasing camping gear. After you have chosen the appropriate camping tent, the next step is to decide how big of a tent you are going to purchase. Too small of a camping tent will make your stay uncomfortable. If you are going camping by yourself or with one other person then a small tent will be plenty. One thing to remember is that you have to get this camping tent into your campground. If you are hiking for any distance, a big tent can get heavy. A camping tent is typically for nighttime use only and you won’t be spending that much time in it, so getting the biggest tent isn’t always necessary. A lot of people overlook the fact whether or not a tent has good ventilation. A good camping tent should have plenty of ventilation to provide plenty of air flow. Ventilation usually is satisfied with mesh windows. Camping tents will have anywhere from one to four windows depending on the size and model. Perhaps the most frustrating thing about camping is setting up the camping tent. Make sure you purchase a camping tent that is easy to set up. Hours can be spent trying to set up tents if they aren’t easy. Now days, tent manufactures are making color coded poles to make the set up as easy as 1-2-3. One extra tip is that when you take down your tent, remember to fold it up nicely and put the color coded poles away properly to make your next set up just as easy as the first time! Camping tents can be expensive. A lot of retail stores will sell cheaper tents, but if you are looking for a good camping tent I would highly recommend that you buy it from a camping gear store. Some of the best camping tent manufactures are Coleman, Bibler, Kelty, and Columbia. Stick to one of the bigger tent companies and your camping experience will be one that you won’t want to forget!
